As many of you know, one of my prioties is helping the communities of which I am a part develop the spiritual, social and moral capacities necesarry to transform the destructive forces of political polarization. As the recent murder of Charlie Kirk makes clear, left unchecked, these forces have the potential to turn our society and our communities not only into intellectual battlegrounds, but into literal war zones. For this reason, I was deeply gratified when members of the Youth Section of the Anthroposophical Society in America asked for my help putting on an event designed to bridge the gulf between “woke” and “anti-woke” perspectives drawing on the wisdom of anthroposophy. This event is coming right up from October 12 to 14 and I hope some of you will consider attending! See more information below and don’t hesitate to reach out to me with any queestions.
Dear friend,
Are you interested in
Moving beyond the stereotypes of “Woke” and “Anti-Woke” to enter into a vital, living conversation about the social justice issues of our time?
Having a constructive, honest conversation about the role of DEI in Waldorf education, Camphill, and other anthroposophical daughter movement institutions?
Exploring how anthroposophy can help us stop othering and start meeting each other as human beings across the various cultural, social, and economic divides that would keep us apart?
If the answer is yes, we would like to warmly invite you to this intergenerational event, hosted by the Youth Section of the Anthroposophical Society, and held with support from the Woodshouse Foundation.
Please note that we have decided to make this an intergenerational, rather than a primarily youth focused event, so people of all ages are now invited to register.
These are sensitive topics, and we will each have to be willing to develop new social capacities and sensitivities to make this event work. We are thus seeking individuals interested in collaborating with us to foster a culture of genuine speaking and listening. Are you up for the challenge?
Please join us!
Robert, I am so glad you are offering this event. The travel and the timing make it nearly impossible for me to attend. Would you consider a similar offering on the West Coast?
